Tickets and joining instructions
After you have paid for the Croatia holiday rental, all tickets and joining instructions are
forwarded no less than 14 days prior to your departure. You are asked to
check these carefully.
Passports, visas and driving licences
British visitors to Croatia or Slovenia require a Passport valid for the length
of stay. At the time of publication, a driving licence with a photograph or an
International Driving Permit is required. Visitors whose documents are from
outside the EC should contact the Croatian or Slovenian Consulate for
verification of requirements. If you are driving to either of these countries
check with your motor insurance company to ensure that your vehicle will be
covered.
Credit Cards
All major credit cards are widely accepted at upmarket establishments;
elsewhere cash is preferred. Credit cards can be used to get cash advances
from banks.
Included in the cost of your Croatia villa rental
Normal use of gas, electricity, water facilities, a weekly change of bed linen,
towels, tea towels and pre-payment of all local taxes, unless otherwise
stated in the property description.
Payable locally
Use of telephone, central heating, air-conditioning, logs, maid service, cots (if applicable)
meals and tennis courts, unless otherwise stated in the property description.
Where a washing machine is available in a Villa there is usually no charge but
there will be a charge where there is a laundry room for communal use,
unless otherwise stated in the property description. A final cleaning charge
is payable locally at some of the properties, this is indicated within the
property description.
Arrival and departure times
The property owner or keyholder will expect your arrival on Saturdays
between 16.00 and 19.00 hours. If you are going to be late, you MUST
advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Failure to do so may result in
you not being able to gain access to the property and you will have to stay
overnight in a hotel (at your own expense).
Arrivals after 19.00hrs can be requested if advance notice is given and
you may be asked to pay a supplement locally to cover the costs.
In some cases, owners may not be able to accomodate late arrivals.
In order to give maximum time to prepare the property for future guests,
you are asked to vacate the premises no later than 10.00am on departure
day.
Maid Service
It is often possible to arrange cleaners and cooks in advance for your Croatia holiday rental. These services
are extra and are payable locally directly to the person(s) giving the service.
Security deposit
A refundable security deposit may be payable on arrival at the Villa to the
owner or keyholder. This protects against accidental breakages, telephone,
central heating and any other services which cost extra as detailed in the
property description. Amounts vary, so the deposit for your Villa will be
indicated on your confirmation invoice. It should be paid in cash and you
must collect it before you depart from the villa.
Telephones
For any villas which have telephones call costs are payable locally and you
should settle the account with the keyholder before you depart from the
villa.
Central heating & Air-conditioning in your Croatia villa
A number of properties include central heating or air-conditioning in the rental price
but most do not. Wood for fires is usually extra too.
Because fuel is pumped into Italy through an expensive grid system from neighbouring countries, heating or air-conditioning is expensive and varies depending on the size of the property.
We can quote the
cost on request.
Water
You will often be asked to be sparing with water. There may be
interruptions from time to time due to long dry periods. Most houses
have drinking water but we always recommend visitors to a foreign
country to drink bottled water. Occasionally, hot water installations,
swimming pools, toilets, dishwashers and washing machines may need to
be repaired. It may take time to engage maintenance people to
obtain replacement parts, especially during high season. Please
remember, however, efficiency is not always as visitors might expect.
Our representatives will always do what they can to rectify a problem
as soon as possible.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen, towels and tea towels at your Croatia villa are provided and changed weekly unless
otherwise stated in the brochure description. You must take your own
swimming pool towels. Beds, cots and highchairs Mattress types vary greatly from
one country to another and will not necessarily be like the one you
usually sleep on and are used to. Continental cots do not necessarily
pass the standards demanded in other countries. We recommend you
take your own, but a cot and linen is available on request. At some
properties there may be a charge for this, payable locally. We regret
that we are unable to provide highchairs.
Furnishings
The Croatia holiday rentals within this brochure and on our website are all
individually and privately owned so the standard of decoration and
furnishings vary both in taste and quality. Regional standards vary too
and may not always offer the comforts you enjoy at home. Some
villas have furnishings of a very high standard but may lack carpets and
armchairs which may not be looked upon as essential in the locality.
(Similarly, kettles, toasters and teapots are looked upon as English
peculiarities and not easy to purchase!). Sometimes, too, wardrobe space is not necessarily in
the relevant bedroom. Wear and tear is unavoidable in letting and owners
may change furniture which has become damaged.
Access roads
Especially in Central Croatia where properties are in rural situations, the
access roads are often steep and rarely tarred.
Swimming pools
Weather permitting, most pools are opened by 15th May and certainly
by 1st June, unless otherwise stated in the Croatia holiday rental description.
However hot the weather may be when you arrive, inclement weather
beforehand may have caused a delay. Likewise, most pools close by
30th September. However, if a swimming pool is an absolute
necessity for you, you must make this request clear at the time of
booking.
Annoyances
Drains can sometimes leave a lot to be desired and insects can be a
nuisance. Many of the properties are very rural and surrounded by
vineyards, olive groves or farms so machinery will be used from time to
time, tractors have to be moved and dogs and chickens do love the
sounds of their own voices!
Welcome Packs
A 'welcome pack' consisting of mineral water, fruit juice, coffee, tea, milk, fresh fruit, bread, jam, butter, biscuits, crackers and cheese can be requested in advance at most properties.
The pack should be paid for locally and whilst the costs will vary according to region we estimate that the maximum it will cost is approximately 30 Euros.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance is a vital part of any holiday and we have negotiated with
Citybond Suretravel a travel insurance policy underwritten by
Europ Assistance. For further information and premiums telephone
0870 460 8945 and quote RA05.
Property access
Many properties in this brochure and on our website are located in elevated positions with external and internal steps. If you have specific mobility issues please contact us with details of your needs so that we can give you guidance on which properties would be suitable.
Party size
Where a property offers a price for varying numbers, owners will take it that there are two people occupying one bedroom and empty bedrooms will be closed.
